Congratulations on the launch of the Akio Morita Homepage!

Once, many years ago, I wanted to ask Mr. Morita about Sony's 1961 ADR (American Depository Receipt) stock issue, so I called on him - the Vice-president at that time - without an appointment. And that's what led to my joining the company.

I subsequently received his personal guidance in relation to the Sony plant at San Diego, California's unitary tax policy, and other matters. I feel that I have been able to shoulder such heavy responsibilities as becoming Executive Vice President of Sony Corporation and President of Aiwa because I always asked myself 'What would Morita-san have done?'

When I resigned as President of Benesse Corporation and was considering my future career, Mrs. Yoshiko Morita gave me great encouragement.
