In 2003, we secured the consent of Akio Morita's widow, Yoshiko, and established the Akio Morita Photo Library, amassing some 4,000 public and privately held photos, images and audio recording.
In 2005, commemorating the 5th anniversary since Akio's death, we had the opportunity to launch a worldwide photo exhibition, beginning in Tokyo. Through the exhibition we were able to meet many people who had met Akio and carried fond memories of the man. They were able to come into contact with many previously inaccessible treasures and could gain a deeper understanding of this alluring figure.
Now, with the cooperation of the Morita family, we have established the Akio Morita Library on the official Akio Morita website, introducing not only the international businessman, but his background, the environment in which he was brought up, his family and friends, and something of the man himself and words that he left for posterity.
I strongly hope that this website will become an educational tool for the future generations of Japanese that take on the responsibility of guiding our country's future on the world stage.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the following people and companies that have helped to make this website possible.
